MIN-405 Creative Bible Preaching and Teaching

The course explores the spiritual and psychological dynamics of effective Bible preaching and teaching. Students examine creative teaching methods in order to communicate biblical truths with conviction, precision, creativity, and practical relevance. Prerequisites: BIL-310, BIL-420, and THE-311

MIN-410 Pastoral Care and Inner Healing

This course examines individual counseling practice focusing on inner healing. The student will experience the process of life review and application of inner healing through healing experiences in some areas of conflict. Topics include: biblical and psychological foundations of personal identity, conflict management, forgiveness, conscience, sexual health, and analysis from a biblical anthropology theory of change.

MIN-411 Ministry Leadership Lab IV

This course involves experiential learning within the local church context, wherein students participate in advanced practical ministry and leadership experiences. Students will engage in and reflect on service opportunities and interactions with local church leadership. Special attention is given to the leadership of teams within a ministry context. Prerequisite: MIN-311

MIN-455 New Models of Ministry

This course explores contemporary models of ministry including the multiplication of groups, churches, and networks of churches. Attention will be given to current trends among growing and multiplying congregations. Prerequisites: BIL-310, BIL-420, THE-311, MIN-340, MIN-350, MIN-360, and MIN-370

MIN-458 Crisis Counseling

This course examines crisis situations from a psychological and biblical view, providing the tools to address the crises parishioners face. Topics include: What is the crisis? Counseling techniques for suffering, depression, death and bereavement, suicide, divorce, and crisis in children. Not open to students with credit in CRJ-268.

MIN-460 Church Growth

This course is the study of the biblical principles that lead to the overall growth of the church, according to the purposes of God. This course focuses on discerning the internal and external factors that lead a congregation to grow quantitatively and qualitatively.

MIN-464 Expository Preaching and Advanced Homiletics

This course further develops the philosophy and practice of developing and preaching expository biblical sermons. It will also provide a careful study of the preparation and delivery of the different sermon forms. Inductive Bible study and research skills, outlining, storytelling, finding and filing sermon resource materials, and the importance of personal, spiritual, and academic preparation will be covered. The instructor and class members will evaluate sermon delivery. Not open to students with credit in REL-465.

MIN-465 Strategic Ministry Leadership

This course explores how leaders implement strategic ministry leadership to fulfill the mission, vision, and values. Exploration of this unique function and role in the church will aid students in understanding how to partner with church leaders to accomplish their shared vision. Prerequisites: THE-311, BIL-310, BIL-420, MIN-340, MIN-350, MIN-360, MIN-370, and REL-424

MIN-468 Leadership and Management in the Local Church

This course explores and analyzes effective leadership and administration for ministry. Students will appraise and apply effective leadership and administrative skills. Students will practice self-evaluation for improving their personal leadership and management. Not open to students with credit in REL-468.

MIN-469 Pastoral Care and Counseling for Ministry Leadership

A study of the biblical framework and various theories of pastoral counseling. The course emphasizes self-understanding as a prerequisite of effective counseling. The course will cover most of the typical counseling problems faced by a pastor, including pre-marital counseling, hospital visitation, and grief counseling. Prerequisites: THE-311, BIL-310, BIL-420, MIN-340, REL-424, MIN-360, and MIN-370. Not open to students with credit in REL-469 and REL-469P

MIN-470 Pastoral Counseling of Sexual Addiction

This course provides the tools needed for biblically-based pastoral counseling of individuals dealing with sexual addiction and recovery.

MIN-475 Leadership Development for Ministry

This course explores both individual leadership development and the development of other leaders in ministry contexts. Students will engage in developing personal leadership strategies and strategies for developing other leaders. Prerequisites: BIL-310, BIL-420, MIN-340, MIN-350, MIN-360, MIN-370, and REL-424

MIN-477 Leading Team Driven Organizations

This course explores the nature of leading team driven organizations including the local church. Focus upon conceptualizing and engaging in team driven organizations will enhance students' ability to thrive in this kind of organizational climate.

MIN-480 Church Planting

This course is a practical and biblical approach to planting healthy churches. It focuses on both the context and the models for the establishment of new churches.

MIN-483 Trinitarian Theology and Church Leadership

This course examines Trinitarian theology and its relationship to church leadership. The theological foundations provide insights into the relational nature of church informing and empowering its mission, vision, values, and practice of ministry leadership. This course serves as Capstone to the BS in Christian Ministry Leadership.
