EDD-840 Research Methods in Education

In this course, students learn about the difference between applied and basic research methods. Students will compare and contrast worldviews, strengths, and limitations of research strategies encompassing approaches such as quantitative, qualitative, epistemology, grounded theory, phenomenological, and mixed methods. They will apply this understanding by analyzing their action research issue, with the goal of proposing a potential research methodology. The process includes concepts such as problem definition, evaluation of appropriate methodologies, research design, reliability, and ethical, cultural, and global considerations. Students will complete a methodology plan for their action research. Prerequisite: EDD-820
