CITM-501 Information Systems Infrastructure

An organization's technology is made up of many components that support the use of electronic data. This course will provide an overview of the hardware, software, and supporting infrastructures that make up the business computing environment. Device types and systems that make this technological ecosystem possible, including operating systems, application software, networking, mobility, and web technologies, including cloud computing, will be addressed. The course will emphasize the overarching architectural components that work together to provide a complete technology solution. Biblical and ethical principles will be integrated into the study of the information systems infrastructures. Application and implementation of course theories and concepts in an organizational setting will be addressed through embedded, experiential learning experiences and activities within the course.

CITM-502 Information Systems Security

Digital interconnectivity has reshaped communications through the use of the Internet. With the ability to connect hundreds of millions of users simultaneously comes an on-going requirement to secure user data. This course covers the body of knowledge related to information systems security, including the broader topics related to cybersecurity. Course themes will include security frameworks, policies, threat management, and mitigation strategies. Biblical and ethical principles will be integrated into information security management processes. Application and implementation of course theories and concepts in an organizational setting will be addressed through embedded, experiential learning experiences and activities within the course.

CITM-503 Cyberlaw, Regulations and Compliance

The ease with which Internet provides a wealth of information and business opportunities has also opened the door for cyber criminals to take advantage of the technology. This course covers the broad topics of cyber law, user privacy, and compliance in protecting data, the user community, and the Internet itself. The course covers cybercrime and other topics related to the secure use of data. A biblical and ethical framework will be integrated into information systems compliance. Application and implementation of course theories and concepts in an organizational setting will be addressed through embedded, experiential learning experiences and activities within the course.

CITM-504 Applied Information Technology Capstone

This capstone course provides an opportunity for students to apply the knowledge accrued in this program to a real world project. The course requires the selection of a practical, real-life technology issue or concern and the development of a case study, program solution, or other method of showing expertise in information technology management throughout the course of study. Biblical and ethical principles will be integrated into the application of technology solutions. Application and implementation of course theories and concepts in an organizational setting will be addressed through embedded, experiential learning experiences and activities within the course. Prerequisites: CITM-501, CITM-502, and CITM-503

CITM-505 Current and Emerging Technologies

This course will review current technologies and trends. Concepts and applications presented will help students develop skills in evaluating new technologies and the capability to monitor current trends to support the mission of the organization. Skills include identifying emerging technology, adoption practices and procedures, and processes for successful implementation. The course will also cover pros and cons when assessing possible options, including benefit analysis, when developing strategies for selecting new technology. Application and implementation of course theories and concepts in an organizational setting will be addressed through embedded, experiential learning experiences and activities within the course.

CITM-506 Information Systems Strategy and Policy

Organizations need to focus on the mission of providing goods and services to their customers. An organization must be able to analyze and understand the volumes of data available to them in gauging performance toward these goals. In support of this effort, the company's information systems need to manage technology infrastructures and data efficiently. This course reviews the processes critical to delivering the services necessary to meet the vision set by the organization to remain operational and profitable. The course discusses strategic planning and policies that support effectiveness outcomes. Application and implementation of course theories and concepts in an organizational setting will be addressed through embedded, experiential learning experiences and activities within the course.

CITM-507 Consulting, Contracting, and Outsourcing in Information Technology Management

An Information Technology (IT) organization staff needs to be flexible and responsive to meet resource needs through staff augmentation or outsourcing. Every IT organization, small or large, frequently uses expertise and skills not found in current staff. Whether a ramp up, short-term need, large project, or an arrangement for managed services for infrastructure, these scenarios require critical resources which must be addressed by organizational leaders. This course will emphasize how IT consulting is used in business and topics such as identify appropriate IT consulting vendors for the project, vetting IT consultant contracts, evaluating domestic and international outsourcing options, and exploring the financial implications of outsourcing will be addressed. Biblical and ethical principles will be applied to the selection and utilization of outsourcing options. Application and implementation of course theories and concepts in an organizational setting will be addressed through embedded, experiential learning experiences and activities within the course.
