EDD-820 Statistics for Education

This course is an introduction to statistical concepts, methods, and reasoning used in education, providing a base for further development of these skills in subsequent methods courses. This course integrates principles of survey design and analysis, including validity, and reliability, and cultural awareness. Students will begin to work with statistical data related to their action research and submit their research topic, question, and literature review for approval. Prerequisite: EDD-760

EDD-840 Research Methods in Education

In this course, students learn about the difference between applied and basic research methods. Students will compare and contrast worldviews, strengths, and limitations of research strategies encompassing approaches such as quantitative, qualitative, epistemology, grounded theory, phenomenological, and mixed methods. They will apply this understanding by analyzing their action research issue, with the goal of proposing a potential research methodology. The process includes concepts such as problem definition, evaluation of appropriate methodologies, research design, reliability, and ethical, cultural, and global considerations. Students will complete a methodology plan for their action research. Prerequisite: EDD-820

EDD-860 Action Research I for Education

This course builds on the understanding developed in EDD-840, Research Methods, refining and shaping student understanding of the theory, data instruments, bias, research ethics, and data collection and analysis for their research. Students will conduct data collection related to their action research that includes a cross-cultural component. Prerequisite: EDD-840

EDD-880 Action Research II for Education

This course builds on the understanding developed in EDD-860, Action Research I for Education, further refining and shaping student understanding and implementation of the theory, data instruments, bias, research ethics, and data collection and analysis for their research. Students will conduct data analysis related to their action research. Prerequisite: EDD-860
