EDD-719 Scholarly Research and Writing for Action Research

This course explores and expands existing writing and research skills for the doctoral level. Candidates will develop their skills in identifying academic research, writing, and research organizational strategies and problem identification. They will also identify and submit an approved topic and problem statement related to action research.

EDD-720 Issues and Ethics in Education

This course explores past, current, and anticipated issues and ethics in education at any level. Addressing these issues and ethical dilemmas will lead to increased cultural responsiveness in the area of focus. Students will identify problems in their area of interest and explore one for their action research. Prerequisite: EDD-719

EDD-740 Education History and Law

The focus will be primarily on public elementary and secondary education. The students will examine issues related to: race and ethnicity, immigration status, language, gender, and disability as it bears on educational equity; discipline, freedom of expression, and religion in the context of student rights; also, federal authority, curricular control, and alternatives to traditional public education in response to educational reform efforts. Students will also learn the history and laws surrounding their action research topic as they begin to develop their literature review. Prerequisite: EDD-720

EDD-760 Learning and Change Management Theories

Major theories concerning the learning process and their implications for the change management process are investigated. This course also offers an opportunity to discuss and apply principles, tools, and methods to successfully implement change and innovation within organizations. Students will compare and contrast cultural differences in learning and change management processes. An action research literature review will be completed in this course. Prerequisite: EDD-740
