MEE-310 Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)

This course introduces students to fundamentals of dimensional metrology and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T). Definition of form and surface tolerances and geometric control symbols are explained. Coordinate tolerancing vs. GD&T are compared. Application of GD&T to product/tool design and quality control are explored. Other topics of interest include tolerance stack analysis and students are introduced to relevant ANSI standards. Prerequisite: EGR-142.

2

MEE-321 Mechanics of Materials

This course is a review and continuation of the deformable body mechanics topics in EGR 211. Topics include bending, torsion, direct stress and transverse shear in beams; curved members; thin-walled members; combined stresses; experimental stress analysis using strain gauges; theories of failure; deflection of beams; statically indeterminate problems; elastic stability of columns. Prerequisite: EGR-211.

4

MEE-324 Mechanics and Design Machinery

This course introduces students to the design and analysis of machinery and mechanisms. Topics typically include displacement, velocity, and acceleration analysis of linkage and cam mechanisms by graphical and analytical methods, synthesis of mechanisms, gears and gear trains. Prerequisites: EGR-214, MAT-255 and EGR-320.

3

MEE-396 Special Topics in Mechanical Engineering

A course in topics of current interest in mechanical engineering. Specific content varies term by term but will be announced before registration begins for the semester of offering. Prerequisite: Permission of division chair.
