A course in using microcomputer software tools to solve business problems. Includes the use of spreadsheets and a data manager. Topics include creating graphs, using macros and data tables, and doing database queries to solve business problems. No prerequisite.

Designed to give a basic understanding of the law and its effects upon the world of business. Topics considered include contracts, agency, employment law, sales, commercial paper, security devices, business organizations, property, estates, bankruptcy, and the Uniform Commercial Code. Also gives credit for POL majors. Prerequisite: BUS-100. In order to waive this prerequisite, majors from other Divisions may submit a written request to the Business Division for consideration.

An exploration of the various roles of people within the business community with emphasis on the nature of work, human efficiency and performance, leadership within work groups, and human relations problem solving.

Students will apply legal terminology to an evaluation of laws from various federal and state statutory law and judicial opinions sources. The student will compare and contrast torts, crimes and contract law, different forms of business organizations, including agencies, sole proprietorships, partnerships, corporations, and limited liability companies as they relate to the legal environment of business. As laws are rapidly changing, the student will explain important legal issues involving employment law, wages, hours, and layoffs; employee privacy, employment discrimination, and worker health, safety, and income security. The legal environment will be viewed using biblical principles to make business decisions.

This course is designed to provide students an introduction to business in a global environment. Students will learn to recognize the concept and role of culture in global business. International organizational strategies and structures will be examined along with how current technology trends impact business infrastructure. Global leadership competencies will be explored and students will have an opportunity to discover how these competencies can be built within themselves and others. Challenges and opportunities created by government and politics in the global business environment will be identified. Students will develop a biblical and ethical framework for conducting business globally throughout the course.

Students will explain the essentials of supervision and apply management functions to supervisors. Students will explain human resource management business processes and choose projects based upon analysis. Students will apply techniques of project management to human resource management and apply the concepts of a Christian worldview to project leadership.

This course will focus on the application of foundational business skills learned throughout the Associate of Science with a major in Business program. Students will utilize business data analysis skills for decision-making in real-world business scenarios. Global perspectives will be emphasized through the use of case study scenarios along with applying best practices in management and leadership. A biblical framework that guides ethical interactions and decision-making will be addressed throughout the course.

An examination of the Biblical view of work and its implications for the Christian in the workplace. Emphasis will be placed on God's calling to work, God's purpose in work, God's equipping for work, God's caring about our work, and God's use of us and our work. No prerequisite.
