CIT-112 Computer Information Technology

This course provides students with an overview of Computer Information Systems, its history, current computer technology, and future trends. There will be a lot of discussion on a variety of interesting topics. It also concentrates on the basic structure of microcomputer, its hardware, and software.

This course provides object-oriented programming paradigms including procedural and object-oriented approaches. Students will apply the programming development process to design and implement applications in the integrated development environment (IDE). Students will learn the basics of an object-oriented programming language that is widely used in the business environment. Coding and applications development will be addressed. Apply biblical and ethical principles to programming development and application will be emphasized.

This course provides an introduction to object-oriented programming concepts. Students will learn the basics of Java, an object-oriented programming language that is widely used in the business environment. Coding and applications development will be emphasized. Students will apply biblical and ethical principles in sourcing and installation.

CIT-140 Operating Systems Concepts

This course introduces students to the features and capabilities of several common operating systems. Basic concepts of microcomputer operating systems, including file sharing, print sharing, networking, upgrades, backup and storage management will be addressed. Students will apply their learning through the creation of a final assignment, project or paper which builds on key concepts learned throughout the course. Biblical principles will be applied to operating systems concepts.

This course presents an overview of networking, networking history, and the Internet. Networking edge, core, and performance will be presented. Networking protocol layers, service models, and hardware will help students to understand the organization of networks. Finally, network security will be discussed with the purpose of the student recommending a biblical and ethical foundation in which to utilize networks.

CIT-260 Database Concepts

This course introduces students to basic terminology and concepts of databases, including data modeling, database models, and database design principles. Attention will also be given to the most popular relational database management systems. Current desktop database application will be used as a tool in database design, use, maintenance, and management. Students will apply biblical and ethical concepts to database design and management.

This course provides a foundational understanding of web design and development. Topics include planning a website, tools available, typography, images, multimedia, and maintenance. Students in this course will explore hardware and software troubleshooting used in the role of an IT support technician. Students will focus on the nine areas covered in two industry exams needed to achieve certification: hardware, software, operating systems, networking, security, mobile, virtualization/cloud, troubleshooting, and operational procedures. Biblical and ethical principles will be explored in these areas.
