Office and Workspace Relocation Policy

I. Scope

This policy impacts all National and Global employees.

II. Policy Statement

In order to provide for efficient facility usage, IWU National and Global has adopted a policy to govern the process by which an employee is relocated from their assigned workspace.

III. Reason for the Policy

The purpose of this policy is to ensure that National and Global maintains efficient use of facility space as well as reduces the impact to an employee during a relocation.

IV. Procedures

In all situations, the university will, as necessary, provide the following to help facilitate packing of office materials in advance of relocation dates.

  • Boxes
  • Bins
  • Packing Materials
  • Tape
  • Etc.

Packing Responsibilities

For private offices and workspaces, each individual will be responsible for packing his/her own personal items, books, reference materials, files, work supplies, etc.

For office suite or common employee or faculty areas, supervisors or directors of such areas will be responsible for assigning duties of packing items in advance of relocation dates.

Relocating Responsibilities

In situations where individuals are relocating within the same building where elevator use is available, the university will provide wheeled dollies, carts, hand trucks, etc. to aid individuals moving packed boxes, bins, etc. from one location to another.

In situations where individuals are relocating from one building to another, within the same building where no elevator services are available, or in cases where individuals have physical limitations or conditions that would limit his/her ability to effectively relocate their items, the university will provide physical assistance in moving packed boxes, bins, etc. to new office or workspace locations. The university will always be responsible for relocating university owned furnishings from one location to another. Individuals should never move university owned furnishings. The university will not be responsible for moving employee owned furnishings. The university will always be responsible for moving any university owned computer and telecommunications equipment from one location to another. Individuals should never move university computer or telecommunication equipment.
