Finishes and Decorations

Decisions regarding finishes (i.e., paint, wallpaper, tile, flooring, etc.) for all categories of spaces will be made by the Vice President (VP) for Enterprise Development & Regional Ventures and the Executive Director for Regional Management in consultation with the Director of Operations.

Decisions regarding decorations in Public Common Areas/Spaces and Staff Only Common Areas/Spaces will be made by the VP for Enterprise Development & Regional Ventures and the Executive Director for Regional Management in consultation with the Director of Operations.

Decisions regarding decorations in Staff Only Non-Public Areas will be made by the individuals assigned to those spaces with adherence to the following guidelines with the intents being safety and risk minimization, limiting marring or marking of surfaces to a minimal amount, as well as maintaining a reasonable level of professionalism of appearance;

  1. Door windows, where present, will not be blocked or covered over in any way without instruction from the Executive Director for Regional Management in consultation with the Director of Operations.
  2. No wallpaper, wallpaper borders, wall decals, or items of this nature will be installed.
  3. The preferable method for hanging decorations will be one that does not mark, stain, leave residue, or puncture surfaces.
  4. When a puncture of the surface is necessary to hang an item, only standard, single nail, picture hanging brackets will be used. See the Director of Operations for examples if unsure exactly what this would be.
  5. Screws, hollow wall anchors, toggle bolts, etc. must never be used on surfaces anywhere in a non-residential regional location without the direct instruction of Executive Director for Regional Management in consultation with the Director of Operations.
  6. Specifically for cubicle spaces, individuals assigned to those spaces will take care not to damage panels or cubicle walls in any way when hanging decorations.
  7. Individuals assigned to cubicles will also take care not to have any decorations or personal items protruding outside of their assigned spaces and in anyway encroaching on public or common space, views, or detracting from a reasonably professional appearance of the space.
  8. Individuals will not display items related to any other institution of higher education in such a way or to such a degree that would give the impression of promoting that institution more significantly than Indiana Wesleyan University.

Informational Postings

All required informational postings for view by IWU Staff will be posted on a common bulletin board in a Staff Only Common Area/Space.

All required informational postings for Public Common Areas/Spaces will either be posted neatly on a bulletin board in one of these areas or framed and displayed appropriately for those standard posting items regarding life safety and evacuation information (e.g., evacuation maps, campus safety authority contact information, etc.).

Non-required informational postings (special events, promotions, etc.) will be displayed appropriately on bulletin board locations in non-residential regional spaces or temporarily displayed on a surface my means of a non-marking, marring, puncturing method with the permission of the appropriate Executive Director for Regional Management in consultation with location staff.

Items should never be taped to windows, doors, or other glass surfaces.
