This course will familiarize students with the concepts, methods, and techniques of managerial epidemiology. The focus of the course is the development of skills necessary to evaluate epidemiologic data on incidence and prevalence, while addressing the impact of administrative data on cost and quality of healthcare service delivery. Critical review and analysis of epidemiological information for use in the planning for health services, problem-solving, policy development, and systems thinking is the point of emphasis. Students will apply virtuous business principles to managerial epidemiology practices.
