BS - Management - Human Resource Management Specialization

The Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Management with a specialization in Human Resource Management emphasizes skill development in organizational management. This includes analysis and problem solving, application of global perspectives to strategic decision-making, identification of appropriate methods of communication, application of relevant technologies including artificial intelligence, development of entrepreneurial skills, and creation of ethical solutions using critical thinking for changing organizational conditions. All skills and applications are examined within a biblical framework. The Human Resource Management Specialization aligns with the recommended requirements for human resource degree programs as outlined in the Society of Human Resource Management curriculum guidebook and templates.

Upon completion of the program, students will be able to:

  • Develop business analysis and problem-solving skills from an entrepreneurial perspective related to organizational management. 
  • Apply global management perspectives to strategic decision-making. 
  • Identify appropriate communication methods to reach diverse audiences in organizational environments. 
  • Apply relevant technologies to manage changing organizational conditions.
  • Utilize critical thinking to create ethical solutions for organizational management. 
  • Integrate a biblical framework that guides interaction within the workplace. 
  • Demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities required of a human resource professional. 
  • Demonstrate an alignment of knowledge and skills with Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM) standards for human resources professionals. 
  • Evaluate readiness for the SHRM certification exams.

A minor in Management is available to a bachelor degree seeking student in the College of Adult and Professional Studies.

The curriculum will be completed in the order established by Indiana Wesleyan University. Indiana Wesleyan University reserves the right to modify the curriculum as necessary.

Admission Requirements

The admission requirements for Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Management offered through the College of Adult and Professional Studies are as follows:

  • Proof of high school graduation or GED certification.
  • Original transcripts from all previous college or university study at a college or university that is accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by both the U.S. Department of Education (ED) and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).

Transfer Credit Policy

Transfer credit for core curriculum requirements for undergraduate programs within the DeVoe School of Business, Technology, & Leadership may be granted as follows:

  • Credit must have been earned at a college or university that is accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by both the U.S. Department of Education (ED) and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) with a minimum grade of "C".
  • Courses must be approved by the DeVoe School of Business, Technology, & Leadership.
  • Students must complete at least 30 hours of the core curriculum at Indiana Wesleyan University.

Program Requirements

Students enrolled in the Bachelor of Science with a major in Management and a specialization in Human Resource Management must complete all major and specialization courses before taking MGT-465, which serves as the capstone course for this program.

Graduation Requirements

To graduate with a baccalaureate degree with a major in Management and a specialization in Human Resource Management from the College of Adult and Professional Studies at Indiana Wesleyan University, the following requirements must be met:

  • Completion of 120 semester hours.
  • Completion of the required courses with a GPA of 2.25 or higher.
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher.
  • Completion of 30 hours of general education requirements as specified (General Education Requirements).
  • Payment of all tuition and fees is required to receive a diploma.
