BS - Global Security and Strategy Management

The Bachelor of Science degree in Global Security and Strategy Management will prepare students to lead people and strategically manage policies and processes regarding global security in both the public and private sector. Anchored in the liberal arts, students will examine fundamental elements of global security, strategy, management, and leadership. Service members and veterans may capitalize on their military experience and transfer credits from Military Occupation Specialties (MOS), Naval Ratings and the Navy Enlisted Classification System (NEC) system, and Air Force Specialty Codes (AFSC) on a Joint Services Transcript (JST), Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) transcript, or Coast Guard Ratings. Students will integrate an ethical framework in decision-making and strategy development. The program also offers its graduates the opportunity to utilize IWU’s credit cross over policy to achieve advanced standing toward a Master of Science with a major in Management, Master of Business Administration, or Master of Arts with a major in Organizational Leadership. 

.Upon completion of the program, students will be able to:

  • Analyze the key components of effective leadership within the context of personal, team, and organizational dynamics. 
  • Describe the primary theoretical, political, religious, and organizational structures that compose the international relations and global security landscape. 
  • Evaluate the global security landscape relating to transnational safety and security issues. 
  • Formulate appropriate management strategies in response to organizational challenges.
  • Employ appropriate financial and quantitative methodologies to generate solutions within a diverse global environment. 
  • Apply global security and strategy management principles and concepts to complex problems. 
  • Integrate an ethical framework in decision-making and strategy development

Admission Requirements

The admission requirements for the Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Global Security and Strategy Management offered through the College of Adult and Professional Studies are as follows:

  • Proof of high school graduation or GED certification.
  • Original transcripts from all previous college or university study at a college or university that is accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by both the U.S. Department of Education (ED) and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
  • Prior completion of at least 60 transferable credit hours is required before the student is eligible to start a bachelor core program. 

Transfer/Assessed Credit Policy

Transfer credit for degree requirements for undergraduate programs within the College of Adult and Professional Studies may be granted as follows:

  • Credit must have been earned at a college or university that is accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by both the U.S. Department of Education (ED) and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) with a minimum grade of "C".
  • Courses must be approved by the DeVoe School of Business, Technology, & Leadership.
  • Credit documented on a JST or CCAF transcript for training received in any MOS, NEC system, AFSC, and Coast Guard Ratings.

Assessed credit for degree requirements may be granted through IWU's assessment of prior learning.

Graduation Requirements

To graduate with a baccalaureate degree with a major in Global Security and Strategy Management from the College of Adult and Professional Studies at Indiana Wesleyan University, the following requirements must be met:

  • Completion of 120 semester hours.
  • Completion of the required core courses with a GPA of 2.25 or higher.
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher.
  • Completion of 30 hours of general education requirements as specified (General Education Requirements).
  • Payment of all tuition and fees is required to receive a diploma.
