MS - School Administration Major (Non-licensure)
Indiana Wesleyan University's Master of Science in School Administration (Non-licensure) Program is a master's degree, non-licensure program. It is designed for alternatively licensed teachers who have a bachelor’s degree and have at least two years of teaching experience.
Candidates will complete a 33-credit hour program which includes a 15-credit-hour Core and an 18 credit-hour concentration in School Administration. This concentration identifies outcomes and expectations based on current school leadership principles and practices and enables interns to engage in inquiry, research, dialogue, team learning, reflection, problem-based learning, collaboration, and standards-based assessment from a comprehensive P-12 perspective. It aligns to the National Educational Leadership Preparation (NELP) program recognition standards on which our accreditation is based. The 15 credit hours of Core courses in Education are designed to provide participants with methods and materials to deepen their teaching ability and help their own students learn, including culturally responsive teaching, ethics and faith, and research and technology tools. Course instruction is designed to model best practices and procedures in the classroom.
This program is open to candidates from all states and countries, and is not tied to state licensure. This is an alternative pathway to school leadership for those who need the training, but not the licensure. This could include teachers and leaders in the following schools: International schools, ACSI schools both stateside and overseas, Charter, and Private schools. This program may also appeal to traditional public school teachers who only want a master’s degree or continuing education, but have no interest in principal licensure.
Candidates who have completed this program should be able to:

- Demonstrate instructional leadership by understanding and promoting best practices in teaching, with an acute focus on student learning and academic success.
- Demonstrate the ability to leverage school operations, manage resources, and provide a safe learning environment to ensure the success of all students.
- Demonstrate the ability to build diverse relationships that engage parents and the community in the learning process and share resources for student success and for the benefit of all stakeholders.
- Model personal integrity, fairness, accountability, cultural responsiveness, and ethical/legal decision-making, and expect the same from staff and students.

Clinical Experience Requirements
All candidates must complete a six-credit-hour internship spanning six months in accordance with NELP requirements.
Graduation Requirements
To graduate from the M.S. program, candidates must have completed the following:
- Successful completion of the M.S. curriculum.
- Possess a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above in all graduate work and a minimum grade of "B-" in each course.
- Satisfy admission, mid-program review, and program completion gateways.
- Payment of all tuition and fees is required to receive a diploma.
