DNP-712 Advanced Pharmacology for the Doctorally Prepared Advanced Practice Registered Nurse

The course is designed to prepare the doctorally prepared advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) with prescriptive knowledge of pharmacologic agents used to manage drug therapy for common health problems and stable chronic disease states. Emphasis will be placed on indications, contraindications, side and interactive effects of commonly prescribed drugs. Concepts of adverse effect control, cost containment, education/advocacy, and legal and prescriptive regulations will be considered.

This course explores pathophysiology and disruptions to normal body physiology. Additionally in depth theoretical and clinical diseases and treatments encountered in primary care settings are examined.

DNP-722 Essentials of Care of the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Client

This course explores the concepts of doctoral level PMH APRN practice. Diagnostic skills will be introduced and explored. Emphasis will be placed on processing client information in a logical, progressive manner and applying appropriate diagnostic reasoning across the lifespan. Biblical perspectives will be incorporated throughout the course.

Provides a strategic view of population health management to improve healthcare outcomes beyond the individual to encompass global communities. Social determinants of health will be examined to minimize the impact of illness on various populations. Students will incorporate an evidence-based approach to care for multicultural communities.

DNP-790 Psychotherapeutic Modalities Across the Lifespan I for the Doctorally Prepared Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner

This course will prepare the student to apply a theoretical foundation to the practice of a doctorally prepared psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner. Practicum experiences develop knowledge and skills necessary to practice within an interprofessional team. (150 practicum hours required)

DNP-791 Psychotherapeutic Modalities Across the Lifespan II for the Doctorally Preapared Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner

This course will continue the development of the doctoral student as a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner. Students incorporate strategies for coordinating interprofessional care, expanding their repertoire of modalities, including family and group therapies. (150 practicum hours required)

DNP-792 Psychotherapeutic Modalities Across the Lifespan III for the Doctorally Prepared Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner

This course will further develop the student's ability to function as a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner. Practicum experiences guide the student to refine skills in assessing, diagnosing, and prescribing interventions for diverse clients with multiple conditions. (150 practicum hours required)

DNP-793 Interprofessional Collaboration for the Doctorally Prepared Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner

Students engage in interprofessional simulation and other methodologies designed to demonstrate the knowledge, dispositions, and skills required to be effective as a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner and function as a leader on in interprofessional team care. (Onsite intensive)
