DNP-702 Role Development for the Doctorally Prepared Advanced Practice Registered Nurse

This course is designed to help the student explore and build strategies related to the role of a doctorally prepared advanced practice registered nurse (APRN).

DNP-712 Advanced Pharmacology for the Doctorally Prepared Advanced Practice Registered Nurse

The course is designed to prepare the doctorally prepared advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) with prescriptive knowledge of pharmacologic agents used to manage drug therapy for common health problems and stable chronic disease states. Emphasis will be placed on indications, contraindications, side and interactive effects of commonly prescribed drugs. Concepts of adverse effect control, cost containment, education/advocacy, and legal and prescriptive regulations will be considered.

DNP-714 Advanced Pathophysiology for the Doctorally Prepared Advanced Practice Registered Nurse

This course explores pathophysiology and disruptions to normal body physiology. Additionally in depth theoretical and clinical diseases and treatments encountered in primary care settings are examined.

Explore the knowledge base and skills necessary to become a systems and organizational leader. Examine the relationship of complexity and systems to organizational decision making, practice roles, quality, and leadership.

DNP-722 Essentials of Care of the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Client

This course explores the concepts of doctoral level PMH APRN practice. Diagnostic skills will be introduced and explored. Emphasis will be placed on processing client information in a logical, progressive manner and applying appropriate diagnostic reasoning across the lifespan. Biblical perspectives will be incorporated throughout the course.

Provides a strategic view of population health management to improve healthcare outcomes beyond the individual to encompass global communities. Social determinants of health will be examined to minimize the impact of illness on various populations. Students will incorporate an evidence-based approach to care for multicultural communities.

This course is a continuation of theory and clinical practice designed to prepare the doctoral advanced practice registered nursing student to practice as a doctorally prepared family nurse practitioner. Emphasis will be placed on health promotion, disease prevention, education, and the diagnosis and management of acute and chronic disease states. Supervised clinical experiences are required.

This course is number three in the series of clinical theory and practice courses designed to prepare the doctoral advanced practice registered nursing student with the theoretical, scientific and technical foundations required to function as a doctorally prepared family nurse practitioner. Emphasis will be placed on health promotion, disease prevention, education, and the diagnosis and management of acute and chronic disease states. Supervised clinical experiences are required.

DNP-790 Psychotherapeutic Modalities Across the Lifespan I for the Doctorally Prepared Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner

This course will prepare the student to apply a theoretical foundation to the practice of a doctorally prepared psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner. Practicum experiences develop knowledge and skills necessary to practice within an interprofessional team. (150 practicum hours required)

DNP-791 Psychotherapeutic Modalities Across the Lifespan II for the Doctorally Preapared Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner

This course will continue the development of the doctoral student as a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner. Students incorporate strategies for coordinating interprofessional care, expanding their repertoire of modalities, including family and group therapies. (150 practicum hours required)

DNP-792 Psychotherapeutic Modalities Across the Lifespan III for the Doctorally Prepared Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner

This course will further develop the student's ability to function as a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner. Practicum experiences guide the student to refine skills in assessing, diagnosing, and prescribing interventions for diverse clients with multiple conditions. (150 practicum hours required)

DNP-793 Interprofessional Collaboration for the Doctorally Prepared Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner

Students engage in interprofessional simulation and other methodologies designed to demonstrate the knowledge, dispositions, and skills required to be effective as a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner and function as a leader on in interprofessional team care. (Onsite intensive)

This course will introduce the student to the doctorally prepared nurse practitioner role and the knowledge necessary to implement an evidence based change project. Students will begin to develop their practice question that will guide their scholarly project. This course includes an onsite residency.

DNP-810 Scholarly Project I

DNP-810 will enable students to conceptualize practice problems. Students will explore the literature and evidence relative to their selected phenomenon of interest. Emphasis will be placed on the systematic appraisal and utilization of nursing and interprofessional knowledge, theoretical frameworks, project effectiveness, and evidence-based practice. Ethical principles are examined. Students will develop and present a proposal for the DNP scholarly project. (Not open to students with credit in DNP-801, DNP-802 or DNP-803) This course includes an onsite residency.

DNP-811 Scholarly Project II

The emphasis of this course is project management and the leadership skills necessary to impact change in a practice setting. Student work will focus on implementation strategies for the scholarly project. This course serves as a progress checkpoint for project implementation.

DNP-812 Scholarly Project III

DNP-812 focuses on implementation and evaluation strategies for the DNP scholarly project. Emphasis is placed on project management for completion of the project and on leadership skills necessary for translating findings into practice. The course culminates with the dissemination of project findings in a public forum appropriate for the project and a written summary of the project development, implementation and evaluation. (Not open to students with credit in DNP-804 or DNP-805)

Continuation course for students who do not meet the requirements for graduation for the DNP degree. Students will include those who need additional practica hours and/or students who have not completed the Translating Evidence into Nursing Practice Project by the end of DNP-805. DNP-900 is a one-credit-hour course for the completion of the TENPP. Students will continue working with the assigned advisor. This 10-week course may be taken a maximum of seven times. A resource fee to maintain continuous enrollment is associated with this course.
