Graduate Certificate - Public Health (Generalist)
The IWU Graduate Certificate in Public Health (Generalist) includes core courses in public health that can be completed on a full- or part-time basis. This certificate provides students with the foundation for public health knowledge and concepts. The certificate is designed to meet the needs of working public health and health-related professionals who wish to advance their careers by continuing their education.
Upon completion of this program, students should be able to:
- Identify key stakeholders for the planning and implementation of public health strategies.
- Establish goals, objectives, and priorities to support public health interventions.
- Demonstrate leadership skills for partnership in public health practice.
Admission Requirements
The Graduate Certificate in Public Health (Generalist) is open to students who meet the following requirements:
- A baccalaureate degree from a college or university that is accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by both the U.S. Department of Education (ED) and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), verified on official transcripts sent by the institution directly to Indiana Wesleyan University.
- Students are required to have a grade of B- or better in a 100 level or higher college mathematics course.
- One-page narrative explaining the applicant’s interest in the certificate.
- One-page resume summarizing educational achievement, professional, and service experiences.
- Two professional references.
- Admission to this certificate is based on qualifications and space availability. Admission is granted without regard to sex, race, color, age, religion, national origin, or disability.
Program Requirements
- The students must complete coursework in the five core areas of public health and maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 (B) on a 4.0 scale.
Completion Requirements
To complete the Graduate certificate, students show evidence of the following:
- All credits required in the course of studies with a minimum overall GPA of 3.0.
- Minimum grade of “B-” or higher in each course. A grade of "C+" or below will require the course to be repeated.
- Payment of all tuition and fees is required to receive a certificate.
