AS - Operations Management - Advanced Manufacturing Processes Specialization
The Associate of Science with a major in Operations Management readies graduates in areas of planning, organizing, and leadership. Anchored in the liberal arts, students will examine operations, business, management, and communications.
This specialization will focus on the concepts and vocabulary that prepares learners to work in a variety of positions in the manufacturing sector. Learners will gain a specialized education in manufacturing processes, project management, production management, critical thinking, problem solving, advanced manufacturing techniques, and process safety. This specialization, upon successful completion, will qualify for a Certificate of Applied Technical Related Studies completion from Bay Institute of Science and Engineering (BISE) that can also be applied toward the Department of Labor Journeypersons Certification.
Upon completion of the program, students will be able to:
- Write effectively using language that is context and audience appropriate.
- Integrate a biblical framework that guides business and personal interactions.
- Apply interpersonal skills in a business environment.
- Demonstrate problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
- Demonstrate a fundamental understanding of operations processes.
- Identify processes that are required to manufacture materials that are used for specific product applications.
- Demonstrate the basic principles of manufacturing processes and techniques.
Admission Requirements
The admission requirements for the associate degree programs offered through the College of Adult and Professional Studies are as follows:
- Proof of standard high school diploma or GED certification.
- Submission of all required items for the admissions process as outlined in the "application procedures" section of the application packet.
Transfer Credit Policy
Transfer credit for degree requirements for undergraduate programs within the College of Adult and Professional Studies may be granted as follows:
- Credit documented on a transcript awarded by a college or university that is accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by both the U.S. Department of Education (ED) and the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) with a minimum grade of "C."
- Credit documented on a JST or CCAF transcript for training received in any MOS, NEC system, AFSC, and Coast Guard Ratings.
Assessed credit for degree requirements may be granted through IWU’s assessment of prior learning process.
Graduation Requirements
To graduate with an associate degree the following requirements must be met:
- Completion of 60 hours.
- Completion of foundational, major, and specialization requirements as outlined in the program of study.
- Completion of 24 hours of general education requirements as specified (General Education Requirements).
- Completion of 33 semester hours in the major with a minimum GPA of 2.0. Fifteen hours must be completed at IWU.
- Cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher.
- Payment of all tuition and fees is required to receive a diploma.
