AS - Business

The Associate of Science with a major in Business provides students with foundational level courses that will prepare them for a career in the field of business. Students will gain knowledge and develop skills through engaging courses designed with real-world perspectives and applications. Relevant business content and related issues in areas such as management, global business, marketing, and accounting will be addressed. This program of study is also designed to provide the foundation necessary for individuals desiring to pursue a baccalaureate degree in the business field. A biblical framework that guides ethical business decision-making and personal interactions will be highlighted throughout the program.

Upon completion of the program, students will be able to:

  • Utilize foundational business analysis skills.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of global perspectives.
  • Demonstrate effective business communication skills.
  • Perform basic accounting functions.
  • Explain the primary functions of management.
  • Describe the role of marketing in an organization’s decision-making processes.
  • Integrate a biblical framework that guides ethical business decision-making and personal interactions.  

Admission Requirements

The admission requirements for the associate degree programs offered through the College of Adult and Professional Studies are as follows:

  • Proof of standard high school diploma or GED certification.  

Transfer Credit Policy

Transfer credit for curriculum requirements for undergraduate programs within the DeVoe School of Business, Technology, & Leadership may be granted as follows:

  • Credit must have been earned at a college or university that is accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by both the U.S. Department of Education (ED) and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) with a minimum grade of "C".
  • Credit documented on a JST or CCAF transcript for training received in any MOS, NEC system, AFSC, and Coast Guard Ratings.
  • Courses must be approved by the DeVoe School of Business, Technology, & Leadership.
  • Associate degrees offered through the College of Adult and Professional Studies require a minimum of 15 credit hours of courses in the academic major to be taken at Indiana Wesleyan University.

Graduation Requirements

To graduate with an Associate of Science degree with a major in Business from the College of Adult and Professional Studies at Indiana Wesleyan University, the following requirements must be met:

  • Completion of 60 semester hours.
  • Completion of foundational requirements, specified general education requirements, and core requirements.
  • Completion of 24 hours of general education requirements as specified (General Education Requirements)
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher.
  • Completion of a minimum of 15 credit hours of core courses to be met at Indiana Wesleyan University.
  • Payment of all tuition and fees is required to receive a diploma.
