BS - Organizational Leadership

The Bachelor of Science with a major in Organizational Leadership focuses on applied leadership. The program is designed for students currently employed in a professional position who want to expand their career opportunities by gaining the knowledge and skills to think critically, motivate others, lead change, influence organizational culture, and make ethical decisions within the complex and diverse, global environment characterizing modern organizational contexts. Course work culminates with a student Portfolio documenting the student’s understanding and application of key leadership principles covered in the program. The program also offers its graduates the opportunity to utilize IWU’s credit crossover policy to achieve advanced standing toward a Master of Arts with a major in Organizational Leadership degree.

Upon completion of the program, students will be able to:

  • Analyze the key components of effective leadership within the context of personal, team, and organizational dynamics.
  • Apply leadership and followership theories and models within diverse multi-cultural and global settings. 
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to successfully lead learning and change initiatives to enhance organizational outcomes.
  • Integrate faith perspectives, critical thinking, and ethical decision-making with personal development and professional practice as a leader.

Admission Requirements

The admission requirements for bachelor degree programs offered through the College of Adult and Professional Studies are as follows:

  • Proof of high school graduation or GED certification.
  • Original transcripts from all previous college or university study at a college or university that is accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by both the U.S. Department of Education (ED) and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
  • Prior completion of at least 60 transferable credit hours is required before the student is eligible to start a bachelor core program.

Transfer Credit Policy

Transfer credit for core curriculum requirements for undergraduate programs within the DeVoe School of Business, Technology, & Leadership may be granted as follows:

  • Credit must have been earned at a college or university that is accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by both the U.S. Department of Education (ED) and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) with a minimum grade of "C".
  • Courses must be approved by the Division of Leadership & Followership Studies.
  • Credit documented on a JST or CCAF transcript for training received in any MOS, NEC system, AFSC, and Coast Guard Ratings.

Graduation Requirements

To graduate with a baccalaureate degree from the College of Adult and Professional Studies at Indiana Wesleyan University, the following requirements must be met:
  • Completion of 120 semester hours.
  • Completion of the required core courses with a GPA of 2.25 or higher.
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher.
  • Completion of 30 hours of general education as specified (General Education Requirements).
  • Payment of all tuition and fees is required to receive a diploma.
