2023-2024 Catalog

BS - Mission-Driven Leadership

The Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Mission-Driven Leadership provides a focus on leadership and mission primarily within Gospel-centered organizations, including churches, Christian non-profits, and other parachurch organizations. The program is also highly relevant in other organizational contexts, especially for leaders or organizational members who are faith-based or positively faith-leaning in their perspectives. The program combines relevant education in ministry concepts, leadership, and biblical studies to provide personal and professional development for leaders in any of these organizations. Key components of the program include attention to the student’s sense of personal calling, a focus on character development as the basis of effective leadership, fit or purpose within the organization and the larger community, and integration of site-based mission-fulfillment labs, which provide students the opportunity to apply their classroom knowledge in a local missional setting through experiential discovery and learning.

The Bachelor of Science with a major in Mission-Driven Leadership also offers its graduates the opportunity to utilize IWU’s credit crossover policy to achieve advanced standing toward a Master of Public Administration, Master of Arts with a major in Organizational Leadership, Master of Science with a major in Management, or Master of Business Administration depending upon election of courses in the Bachelor’s level program.
