BS - Hospitality Management
Students in the Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Hospitality Management program will differentiate specific characteristics of the segments within the hospitality industry, identify current trends and issues, and develop effective marketing strategies and optimal human asset management practices using quantitative methods. Students will develop a leadership philosophy and practice consistent with a biblical worldview, apply appropriate communication strategies to achieve organizational goals, and utilize appropriate technologies to meet changing business conditions. Students will also create a business plan for a small hospitality industry business. Students will be required to perform a field exercise as part of this program.
Upon completion of the program graduates will be able to:
- Develop a leadership philosophy and practice consistent with a biblical worldview.
- Utilize appropriate technologies to meet changing business conditions.
- Apply appropriate communication strategies to achieve organization goals.
- Integrate a biblical framework that guides interaction within the workplace.
- Develop effective marketing strategies applicable to the hospitality industry.
- Identify current trends and issues impacting the hospitality industry.
- Differentiate specific characteristics of the segments of the hospitality industry including their optimal human asset management practices using quantitative methods.
- Create a business plan for a small hospitality industry business.
The curriculum will be completed in the order established by Indiana Wesleyan University. Indiana Wesleyan University reserves the right to modify the curriculum and locations offered as necessary.
Admission Requirements
The admission requirements for Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Hospitality Management offered through the College of Adult and Professional Studies are as follows:
- Proof of high school graduation or GED certification.
- Original transcripts from all previous college or university study at a college or university that is accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by both the U.S. Department of Education (USDoE) and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
- Prior completion of at least 60 transferable credit hours is required before the student is eligible to start a bachelor core program.
Transfer Credit Policy
Transfer credit for core curriculum requirements for undergraduate programs within the DeVoe School of Business may be granted as follows:
- Credit must have been earned at a college or university that is accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by both the U.S. Department of Education (USDoE) and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) with a minimum grade of "C".
- Courses must be approved by the DeVoe School of Business.
- Students must complete at least 30 hours of the core curriculum at Indiana Wesleyan University.
Graduation Requirements
To graduate with a baccalaureate degree with a major in Hospitality Management from the College of Adult and Professional Studies at Indiana Wesleyan University, the following requirements must be met:
- Completion of 120 semester hours.
- Completion of the required core courses with a GPA of 2.25 or higher.
- Cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher.
- Completion of 30 hours of general education requirements as specified (General Education Requirements).
- Payment of all tuition and fees is required to receive a diploma.
