BS - Business Administration - Financial Planning Specialization
Students in the Bachelor of Science with a major in Business Administration with a specialization in Financial Planning will incorporate critical analysis to evaluate clients’ objectives, needs, and values. They will use unique case studies to engage in the practice of recommending particular strategies within a broader financial plan. Students will test strategic solutions to organizational issues within diverse business and economic situations applying critical thinking derived from financial and managerial knowledge. Students will apply various digital communication strategies to convey complex financial concepts and financial plan recommendations with clients. Students will integrate biblical principles, evaluate and apply the Virtuous Business Model, and generate ethical solutions to business challenges within the personal financial planning disciplines.
Upon completion of the program, students will be able to:
- Explain the steps of the financial planning process.
- Analyze personal financial situations to create an effective financial plan.
- Communicate the financial plan using a variety of digital and paper media strategies.
- Evaluate an organization’s current situation and formulate an appropriate strategy in response to organizational challenges.
- Integrate appropriate financial and quantitative methods to provide solutions within diverse global business and economic environments.
- Apply appropriate technologies to meet changing business conditions.
- Develop ethical solutions for business opportunities using critical thinking.
- Integrate biblical principles and the Virtuous Business Model to guide interactions within the workplace.
Admission Requirements
The admission requirements for the Bachelor of Science with a major in Business Administration with a specialization in Financial Planning offered through the College of Adult and Professional Studies are as follows:
- Proof of high school graduation or GED certification.
- Original transcripts from all previous college or university study at a college or university that is accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by both the U.S. Department of Education (USDoE) and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
- Prior completion of at least 60 transferable credit hours is required before the student is eligible to start a bachelor core program.
Transfer Credit Policy
Transfer credit for core curriculum requirements for undergraduate programs within the DeVoe School of Business may be granted as follows:
- Credit must have been earned at a college or university that is accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by both the U.S. Department of Education (USDoE) and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) with a minimum grade of "C".
- Courses must be approved by the DeVoe School of Business.
- Students must complete at least 30 hours of the core curriculum at Indiana Wesleyan University.
Graduation Requirements
To graduate with a baccalaureate degree with a major in Business Administration from the College of Adult and Professional Studies at Indiana Wesleyan University, the following requirements must be met:
- Completion of 120 semester hours.
- Completion of the required core courses with a GPA of 2.25 or higher.
- Cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher.
- Completion of 30 hours of general education requirements as specified (General Education Requirements).
- Payment of all tuition and fees is required to receive a diploma.
