Undergraduate Certificate - Elementary Teacher Training
The Elementary Teacher Training certificate is structured to prepare candidates to apply subject matter expertise, assessment knowledge, and differentiated instructional practices to elementary learning environments. The curriculum emphasizes the major theories and concepts related to learning processes, child development, literacy development, and classroom management.
This program is open to candidates from all states and countries, and does not lead to licensure. Candidates could include parents, Sunday school or classroom teachers, education event planners, or other professionals in many settings: hospitals, childcare homes, international schools, ACSI schools both stateside and overseas, and private schools
Candidates who have completed this program should be able to:
- Describe professional, moral and ethical behaviors and dispositions grounded in related biblical principles.
- Demonstrate research-based knowledge of how and when elementary children learn, addressing developmental and motivational stages as well as factors that affect learning for students with exceptionalities, diverse backgrounds, language differences, and learning differences.
- Implement a variety of assessments to determine elementary student needs that inform instruction.
- Design a safe, culturally responsive, and literacy-rich learning environment using sound classroom management strategies and high standards for all elementary learners.
- Develop a variety of differentiated instructional strategies that consider the diverse needs of all elementary students.
Admission Requirements
- Proof of standard high school diploma, GED certification, or country equivalent.
Completion Requirements
To complete the Elementary Teacher Training certificate, candidates must:
- Complete the 21 credit hours with a grade of at least a "C" in each course.
- Payment of all tuition and fees is required to receive a certificate.
