BSN to DNP - Doctor of Nursing Practice - PMHNP Specialization

The Post-Baccalaureate Doctor of Nursing Practice Psychiatric Mental Health NP program prepares nurses with a baccalaureate degree in nursing (BS or BSN) to achieve a doctoral degree. The program is designed to prepare nurses for advanced practice (APRN) in the mental health field at the highest level of leadership, scholarship, and character. The focus of the program is the interrelationship of theory, research, and evidence-based psychiatric mental health practice. Graduates of the program are eligible to take the PMH nurse practitioner certification exam from the appropriate credentialing body.

The Doctor of Nursing Practice program with the Psychiatric Mental Health specialization will prepare graduates to:
  • Apply principles of organizational leadership for evidence based quality improvement in Psychiatric Mental Health systems.
  • Serve as an advocate for vulnerable psychiatric populations.
  • Influence psychiatric health care policy at local, state, and/or federal levels.
  • Integrate organizational, client-centered, and culturally appropriate concepts into the planning, delivery, management, and evaluation of services to psychiatric
    populations.
