BS - Information Technology - Web Development Specialization
The Bachelor of Science in Information Technology with a specialization in web development emphasizes skill development in business and information technology management. This includes analysis and problem solving, application of global perspectives, using appropriate methods of communication in the workplace, applying relevant technologies, and developing ethical solutions using critical thinking. In addition, students will learn to design, develop, and maintain a professional website using industry standard software and practices. All business and web development skills are examined within a biblical framework.
The Web Development specialization courses are taken through a third party vendor – Bethel School of Technology (Bethel Tech). Students access the web courses through IWU's -Brightspace platform and are then directed to Bethel Tech’s learning environment. The web courses must be taken in sequence and will not be available as electives.
Upon completion of the program, students will be able to:

Utilize information technology tools and applications according to professional principles and standards.
- Integrate a biblical framework to applications in the information technology field.
- Utilize current coding languages in web development projects.
- Develop skills in interface design, coding, and usage of database technology in developing web sites.
- Build web enabled and service applications on websites.
- Develop Structured Query Language (SQL) and Not only SQL (NoSQL) based database applications.
The curriculum will be completed in the order established by Indiana Wesleyan University. Indiana Wesleyan University reserves the right to modify the curriculum and locations offered as necessary.
Admission Requirements
The admission requirements for Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Information Technology offered through the College of Adult and Professional Studies are as follows:
- Proof of high school graduation or GED certification.
- Original transcripts from all previous college or university study at a college or university that is accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by both the U.S. Department of Education (ED) and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
- Prior completion of at least 60 transferable credit hours is required before the student is eligible to start a bachelor core program.
Transfer Credit Policy
Transfer credit for core curriculum requirements for undergraduate programs within the DeVoe School of Business may be granted as follows:
- Credit must have been earned at a college or university that is accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by both the U.S. Department of Education (ED) and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) with a minimum grade of "C".
- Courses must be approved by the DeVoe School of Business.
- Students must complete at least 30 hours of the core curriculum at Indiana Wesleyan University.
Program Requirements
Students must complete all WEB classes with a grade “C” or higher. If the “C” grade is not achieved, students will be required to repeat the WEB course before proceeding to the next course in the sequence.
Graduation Requirements
To graduate with a baccalaureate degree with a major in Information Technology from the College of Adult and Professional Studies at Indiana Wesleyan University, the following requirements must be met:
- Completion of 120 semester hours.
- Completion of the required core courses with a GPA of 2.25 or higher.
- Cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher.
- Completion of all WEB courses in specialization with a grade “C” or higher.
- Completion of 30 hours of general education requirements as specified (General Education Requirements).
- Payment of all tuition and fees is required to receive a diploma.
