Withdrawal Policy

Withdrawing from a program

A student who finds it necessary to withdraw from the program is required to contact Wesley Seminary's student success coordinators to complete this process (seminaryadvising@indwes.edu).

If, at a later time, the student wishes to re-enter the program, a re-entry form must be submitted to the Office of Academic Affairs. Students sitting out of a program for more than 90 days are subject to a tuition increase upon returning. Students re-entering a program after six months or more are subject to any changes in program requirements and curriculum upon returning.

Withdrawing from a course

A student who wishes to withdraw from a course and/or take a break in enrollment must contact Wesley Seminary's student success coordinators to make any registration changes. Any change in registration may have an impact on the student's financial aid. Students should always check with the financial aid office before initiating a registration change.

If a student officially withdraws after a course has started and the student has engaged in any graded activity, a grade of "W" will be assigned.

Students withdrawing from the first course of a program must withdraw from the entire program and restart the program.

Students may be eligible for a leave of absence if they receive financial aid (LOA policy).

Administrative Withdraws

Administrative withdraws assigning a grade of "W" will also happen as follows:

  • A student who violates the engagement policy (Engagement Policy-Undergraduate or Engagement Policy-Graduate) will be administratively withdrawn from the course.
  • A student who violates the engagement policy two courses in a row may be administratively withdrawn from not only the course but all subsequent courses.

Students may be suspended from a program if they show a lack of academic progress toward completing a credential (e.g. if a student withdraws from 25% or more of the required course work for their program).
