PhD - Organizational Leadership
The Doctor of Philosophy degree with a major in Organizational Leadership (Ph.D.) provides an advanced graduate education for students seeking academic positions in research and teaching at leading universities, and for those seeking leadership and consulting opportunities in corporations, entrepreneurial businesses, health care, faith-based institutions, government, and non-profit organizations. This program is designed for working adults who have the intellectual capacity for advanced study, who thrive on the challenge of self-directed learning, and who desire to master the discipline of organizational leadership from a theoretical perspective to drive scholarly publication as well as application to professional practice.
Upon completion of the program students should be able to:
- Develop a philosophy of organizational leadership systems that integrates wisdom, followership, and stewardship with other fundamental leadership domains and a personal worldview informed by Christian principles.
- Design solutions to organizational processes based on root cause analysis, the concepts of leadership and followership, and involving key stakeholders at appropriate levels in the organization.
- Evaluate concepts, theories, and models of cross-cultural, global, and multicultural leadership to demonstrate the ability to lead across cultures.
- Conduct well-designed primary research in organizational leadership that narrows the gap in the literature and contributes to the body of knowledge in the field.
- Demonstrate doctoral-level knowledge and application of the foundational concepts of organizational leadership with the ability to publish and present scholarly work, teach in higher education and industry, and lead in professional practice and consulting work.
