MBA - Information Technology Management

The Master of Business Administration program with a major in Information Technology Management program is designed for practicing professionals who possess a bachelor's degree in business or technology or possess an advanced degree in another area of specialization. Students participating in this program desire additional study in order to expand and enhance their ability to contribute to their career path, company, and society. This program allows students to be engaged in working in a paid or non-paid position, (provided this employment is appropriate for a training opportunity, considering the goals and requirements of the degree program), which may include current employment in a full- or part-time professional position, participation in job shadowing, or participation in an internship. Additionally, the program provides a foundation for future employment to extend the academic experience with practical training as noted above.

Students in this program of study will design solutions and strategies for complex business problems and opportunities, and integrate critical analysis with disciplines such as management, statistics, finance, and economics. In addition, personal management capabilities will be evaluated, and a plan for growth will be designed. Students will synthesize ethical standards in decision-making and strategy development, create appropriate communication strategies to achieve organizational goals, and integrate a biblical framework that guides interactions within the business environment and workplace. Information systems infrastructure, security, and compliance requirements to produce effective technology solutions for specific organizational problems will be appraised. Students will evaluate current and emerging technologies while developing skills necessary to negotiate information technology contracts and outsourcing information technology services to meet the needs of an organization.

Upon completion of the program, students will be able to:

Appraise information systems infrastructure for specific organizational problems.
Examine current and emerging technologies and determine appropriate solutions to resolve business information technology system issues.
Demonstrate skills necessary to identify potential vendors, negotiate contracts and evaluate domestic and international outsourcing options to meet information technology needs of an organization.
Demonstrate the ability to apply security, regulation and compliance requirements to an organization’s information technology system.

Admission Requirements

A baccalaureate or graduate degree from a college or university that is accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by both the U.S. Department of Education (ED) and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) verified on original transcripts sent by the institution directly to Indiana Wesleyan University.
An undergraduate grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 or higher from the baccalaureate degree granting institution at which at least a minimum of 30 hours was completed. If an applicant's GPA is below 2.5, the student may be admitted on a probationary basis, as established by the guidelines of the DeVoe School of Business, Technology, & Leadership.

Graduation Requirements

To graduate, students must have completed all of the following:

All credits required in the curriculum sequence with a minimum GPA of 3.0 and a minimum grade of “C” in each course. A grade of "C-" or below will require the course to be repeated.
Overall GPA of 3.0 in all IWU graduate work.
Payment of all tuition and fees is required to receive a diploma.
