Specialization in Children, Youth, and Family Ministry

A student who takes the Children, Youth, and Family Ministry specialization will be able to analyze the basic structural and relational issues that inform the spiritual care of children, adolescent, and their families. As a result, they will be able to apply theories that inform the spiritual care of children, adolescents, and families in light of Christian history, scripture, and theology.
This specialization consists of four courses: one required course and three “CYF Studies Electives.” The required course is Family Ministry in the 21st Century (CONG-530).

In addition to the Master of Divinity learning outcomes, students with a specialization in Children, Youth, and Family Ministry should, with graduate-level competency, be able to:

  • Analyze the basic structural and relational issues that inform the spiritual care of children, adolescent and their families.
  • Apply theories that inform the spiritual care of children, adolescents, and families in light of Christian history, scripture, and theology.
