Clinical Addictions Counseling
Mission Statement
The Graduate Clinical Addictions Counseling program endeavors to train entry level practitioners in understanding and healing the destructive nature of various addictions. Through academic rigor, using related healing arts and sciences, with integrated Christian thought, is dedicated to bring forth addiction professionals with knowledge and application of healing skills to reclaim, redeem, restore, and repurpose healthy individuals and families in body, mind, and soul to one another and God.
Requirements (48 credits)
A student who has completed the Clinical Addictions Counseling program should, with graduate-level competency, be able to:
- Students will articulate a clear, accurate understanding of Addiction counselor professional identity.
- Students will demonstrate knowledge of the fundamental domains in addiction counseling (i.e., foundations; theories of counseling, prevention, and intervention, advocacy; assessment; research & evaluation; and diagnosis).
- Students will demonstrate skills and practices of addiction counseling in the delivery of behavioral health services (e.g., assessment, diagnosis, treatment, termination, documentation, & ethical practice).
- Students will deliver addiction counseling services with multicultural competence and sensitivity.
- Students will demonstrate ability to apply relevant research and evaluation models in practice of addiction counseling.
- Students will demonstrate ability to integrate faith with addiction counseling practice in clinically appropriate, sensitive, and ethical manner.
