2022-2023 Catalog

Theatre - B.S.

The Theatre major is designed for students eager to become better theatrical performers, producers and technicians who glorify God by delivering modern parables. Building on the theoretical strengths of the division's core classes, the Theatre major further develops students with practical skills and perspectives through their coursework in writing, performance and creative production, as well as a full university production schedule of plays and musicals.

Concentrations:

Performance: Students in the performance concentration will be exposed to a wide variety of traditional and contemporary acting methods and directing practices. Artists in the performance concentration will culminate their work with a senior performance or directing assignment.

Technical: Students in the production concentration will be exposed to the fundamental principles of stage design (sets, lights, costumes, props, hair/makeup, and sound), technical production, and stage management. Artists in the production concentration will culminate their work with a senior project in either stage management, design (sets, costumes, lights, makeup/hair, or sound), or technical direction.

Students must receive a "C" or higher for all courses within their major. Any grade below a "C", including "C-" must be repeated with a "C" or higher to graduate with a Communication/Theatre major.
