Readmission

Policy

Determination of re-entry to the MSW Program will be reviewed by the MSW Program Team for decision to approve or deny re-entry request.

Procedure

Overview: Students applying to re-enter the MSW Program will complete a re-entry form and submit it to the Office of Student Services. The Academic Enrollment Services (AES) – Re-Entry team will provide the student with the MSW Program Re-Entry Petition Guidelines. Once the student completes the written petition following the guidelines, they will submit the document to the MSW Program Director. The petition will be reviewed by a team of MSW faculty for discussion and vote. The student will be notified in writing of the re-admission decision by the MSW Program Director. The notification will be copied to Academic Advising at SocialWorkAdvising@indwes.edu and Re-Entry at AES_ReEntry@indwes.edu for processing. All approvals will be conditional upon the student abiding by a Performance Improvement Plan that outlines the commitments made in the Petition and recommended by MSW team.

Steps:

  • Submit any re-entry request to AES Re-Entry as per CAPS policy.
    • Upon receiving the request, the Re-Entry team will give the MSW Re-Entry Petition Form to the student. Nothing further is done by Re-Entry until MSW team makes a determination of action.
  • Student sends completed petition directly to MSW Program Director.
  • A team of MSW faculty will discuss the petition and the student's history and vote on a decision to either approve with a Performance Improvement Plan, or deny the request re-admission.
    • All approvals will be conditional upon following a Performance Improvement Plan (PIP).
    • The PIP will be sent to the student by the MSW Program Director along with the decision letter.
  • Student is notified via email of the decision to approve or deny by MSW Program. Academic Advising SocialWorkAdvising@indwes.edu is copied as well as Re-Entry AES_ReEntry@indwes.edu for processing.
    • If Approved, the Re-Entry team will begin their clearance processes, with the end goal being rescheduling and working with advising as necessary.
    • If Denied, student and Re-Entry team are notified and no further Re-Entry action done.
  • Student record is updated and the MSW Program Director and MSW Field Director are notified via email of approved new schedule when created.
