Graduate Certificate - Mathematics
The Graduate Mathematics certificate is an 18 hour concentration designed for those seeking the credentials required by many regional accrediting bodies in order to be able to teach advanced placement, concurrent early college, and community college Mathematics courses. This certificate provides a broad understanding of the field of mathematics, while strengthening mathematical communication and analysis. As this course set is taught in a Christian environment, it is designed to nurture Christian faith and understanding.
Upon completion of this program, students should be able to:
- Interpret a breadth of mathematical knowledge effectively.
- Evaluate mathematical information accurately.
- Synthesize critical thinking and quantitative skills to analyze problems that can be modeled mathematically.
- Synthesize biblical knowledge with the attained quantitative knowledge.
Admission Requirements
The admission requirements for the Graduate Certificate in Mathematics are as follows:
- A baccalaureate or graduate degree from a college or university that is accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by both the U.S. Department of Education (USDoE) and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) verified on original transcripts sent by the institution directly to Indiana Wesleyan University.
- A bachelor's degree with a Mathematics major or must be state certified (in any state) to teach Mathematics at a secondary school level.
- An undergraduate GPA of 2.75 or higher from the baccalaureate degree granting institution at which at least of minimum of 30 hours was completed.
Completion Requirements
To complete the Certificate in Mathematics candidates must show evidence of the following:
- Successful completion of the Graduate Mathematics Certificate curriculum.
- Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above in all graduate work and a minimum grade of "B-" in each course.
- Successful completion of admission, mid-program review, and completion gateways.
- Payment of all tuition and fees is required to receive a certificate.
