Specialization in Preaching

A student who takes this specialization will be able to construct sermons that are biblically and theologically faithful, as well as contextually and rhetorically fitting. In addition, they will be able to synthesize a philosophy of preaching informed by biblical theology, Christian history, and current culture. 

This specialization consists of any four of the 3-credit hour electives below for a total of 12-credit hours. Only one BIBL elective may be used towards the completion of the Preaching Specialization.

In addition to the MA in Ministry learning outcomes, students with a specialization in Preaching should, with graduate-level competency, be able to:

  • Construct sermons that are biblically and theologically faithful, as well as contextually and rhetorically fitting.
  • Synthesize a philosophy of preaching informed by biblical theology, Christian history and/or current culture.
