Student Development Administration
Mission Statement
The SDA Program is committed to providing students with knowledge in the theory and practice of student development as well as critical counseling-related skills to effectively serve, understand, and communicate with college students.
Requirements (36 credits)
A student who has completed the Student Development Administration program should, with graduate-level competency, be able to:
- Students will articulate a clear, accurate understanding of the Student Development profession.
- Students will demonstrate knowledge of the ethical and legal considerations specifically related to the practice of student development.
- Students will understand the knowledge, skills, and attitudes that connect the history, philosophy, and values to one's professional practice.
- Students will gain awareness of student development theories as they relate to the formative needs of college and university students.
- Students will demonstrate knowledge of the challenges and opportunities of working with diverse populations.
- Students will explore the concepts of organizational culture, budgeting, and finance in higher education.
- Students will demonstrate competence in counseling and coaching group formation skills and systems techniques.
- Students will develop the ability to use, design, conduct, and analyze qualitative and quantitative assessment, evaluation, or research projects.
