AS - Christian Ministries
The Associate of Science degree with a major in Christian Ministries (ASM) prepares students for entry-level ministry roles in Christian churches and para-church organizations. It also enables laypersons in local churches to gain greater spiritual development, gain greater awareness of critical ministry functions and issues, and enhance their current service. This degree meets many academic and practicum requirements for licensing and/or ordination in many churches including The Wesleyan Church. Additionally, it prepares students for bachelor-level work in Christian Ministry, Ministry Leadership, Theology, or Biblical Studies. Nearly two-thirds of the requirements for ordination in The Wesleyan Church are satisfied within this program.
Upon completion of the Associate of Science degree with a major in Christian Ministries, students will be able to:
- Apply a Christian and Biblical worldview with a Wesleyan-Arminian Perspective to basic ministry tasks.
- Demonstrate entry level ministry skills for local church and parachurch organizations.
- Exhibit Christlike motivations, dispositions, and character through spiritual formation for ongoing spiritual and ministerial health.
- Apply leadership skills within a local church context.
