Credit Events
Students have the freedom to choose from the following spiritual formation credit options to accrue their 28 credits. Direct Chapel credit must account for at least 15 of the 28 required credits. The remaining 13 credits may be direct or indirect and may come from any combination of the following:
- Direct Chapel Credit: Monday/Friday at 10:05am (Wednesdays occasionally). Community-wide worship during the Spiritual Formation Hour counts as direct chapel credit, of which residential students must accrue at least 15. Between 30-35 direct credit opportunities are offered each semester.
- Indirect Credit: Credit not from chapel, but from other spiritually formative events approved by the Spiritual Formation Office. Between 35-40 indirect credit opportunities are offered each semester. These include:
- Small Groups approved by the Spiritual Formation Office and usually offered on Wednesdays during the spiritual formation hour, but also available throughout the week. These count as indirect credit. (Note: A maximum of 1 small group credit counts toward students' requirement per week.)
- Alternative weekly worship gatherings approved by the Spiritual Formation Office and open to the entire campus such as Awaken, Coram Deo, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, etc. These count as indirect credit.
- One-off events approved by the Spiritual Formation Office like Faith Integration Groups, Both-And, Division Gatherings, etc. These count as indirect credit.
