Sharps Disposal

To prevent injury due to accidental exposure to a contaminated needle, syringe, or lancet we ask that students dispose of all sharps in a rigid puncture-resistant container with a secure lid and labeled “Sharps”. Approved “Sharps Disposal Containers” may be obtained in the Wildcat Health Clinic free of charge or a thoroughly rinsed, heavy plastic detergent/bleach bottle with a screw cap may be used. Containers should be stored in a secure location. All full containers are to be disposed of by bringing them to the Wildcat Health Clinic during normal business hours, DO NOT throw the container in the trash. Also, DO NOT throw loose needles in the garbage, attempt to bend, break, or remove needles from the sharp container, flush needles or syringes, or use glass containers to dispose of needles.
