2023-2024 Catalog

Progression Requirements

Faculty Advisors will review students’ progression in the OTD program at the end of each term. A student is progressed to the next term of the OTD program upon earning a minimum grade of "B-" or "CR" (pass) in all courses taken within a term while maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher. All courses in the OTD program must be taken in order.

Program Suspension due to Academic Progression

Students who earn a C+ or lower or “NC” (Fail) in any course may petition to retake the course to continue program progression. Due to the cohort design of the program, repeating a course requires a student to withdraw from the program and petition for enrollment into the next cohort of students. Prior academic performance, professional behavior, and demonstration of plan of action may all be considered during petition determinations. Students who repeat courses will progress through the OTD program in succession from the point of repeated course. A petition denial will result in program dismissal.

Students who earn a C+ or lower or “NC/Fail” in two courses (including the same course, repeated) will not be eligible to continue in the program and will be permanently dismissed from the program. The Department of Occupational Therapy has the right to remove students from the program if professional behavior and/or academic standards are not upheld.

Academic Probation and Dismissal

If a student falls below the required 3.25 at any time in the program the student will be placed on Academic Probation until the 3.25 is reached. If it is determined that there are not enough courses remaining in the program progression to reach 3.25 before entering Level II fieldwork courses, the student will be dismissed at the time of the discovery. Falling below a 3.0 GPA will result in dismissal from the program.
