DBA - Accounting Specialization

The Doctor of Business Administration with a specialization in Accounting prepares students for careers in accounting education, consulting, and business leadership. Students in this program will integrate forward-thinking virtuous leadership into global team-based business practice, create ethical change management solutions and strategies for complex business problems, and design solutions to accounting problems using new applications of theory or changes in present accounting standards. Students will synthesize advanced research in education, consulting, or business leadership into their doctoral practice in order to create new accounting knowledge for application in the global workplace. Students will integrate a virtuous worldview into both their personal and professional lives.

Graduates of the program will be able to:

  • Integrate forward-thinking virtuous leadership into the global team-based business practice.
  • Create advanced ethical change management solutions and strategies for complex business problems.
  • Synthesize advanced research in education, consulting, or business leadership into their doctoral practice.
  • Create new knowledge for application in the global workplace.
  • Integrate a virtuous worldview into both their personal and professional lives.
  • Design solutions to real world accounting problems using new applications of theory or changes in present accounting standards. 

Admission Requirements

Requirements for admission to the Doctor in Business Administration with a specialization in Accounting are as follows:
  • A Master in a business discipline and either a
    • CPA or
    • 18 graduate accounting credits together with at least 5 years of accounting or accounting teaching experience.
  • Degrees are only accepted from a college or university that is accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by both the U.S. Department of Education (ED) and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) verified on original transcripts sent by the institution directly to Indiana Wesleyan University.
  • A graduate grade point average (GPA) of 3.25 or higher from the graduate degree granting institution at which at least a minimum of 30 hours was completed. If an applicant's GPA is below 3.25, the student may be admitted on a probationary basis, as established by the guidelines of the DeVoe School of Business.

MGMT-501 is a pre-requisite for the Doctor of Business Administration Bridge Program. Students must complete this pre-requisite course with at least a grade of "B" by the end of the first semester of the program. However, this requirement is waived for students who have a Bachelor’s or Master’s in business, business administration, accounting, finance, marketing, management, or other related discipline from a college or university accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by both the U.S. Department of Education (ED) and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).

Graduation Requirements

  • Complete all credit-hours required in the curriculum sequence with a minimum GPA of 3.25 and a minimum grade of "B" in each course. A grade of "B-" or below will require the course to be repeated. 
  • Successful completion and defense of the doctoral project. 
  • Payment of all tuition and fees is required to receive a diploma.
