MEd - Instruction in Early Learning Major

The Master of Education (M.Ed.) program with a major in Instruction in Early Learning is designed
to provide an advanced degree in early childhood learning to teachers who were awarded an Indiana
Wesleyan Transition to Teaching Early Childhood Education (Ohio) Certificate within ten years and
became practicing classroom teachers. Candidates will complete a 33-credit hour program by adding
18 hours of advanced preparation courses to 15 hours that may be transferred in from the TTT Early
Childhood Education program coursework. These additional hours feature courses that are aligned to
the National Education Association's Teacher Leader Model standards, and promote constructivist
approaches to teaching and learning, emphasizing teacher leadership and teacher efficacy. The
program is designed to support teacher leadership as a vehicle for transforming educators to meet the
needs of their learners.

This program is open to any candidate who is awarded Indiana Wesleyan's Transition to Teaching
Early Childhood (Ohio) Certificate within ten years and received a P-3 early childhood education
teaching license in Ohio. In order to enter the degree program, candidates must have at least one year
of successful teaching experience; this may preclude some TTT Early Childhood Education (Ohio)
completers from entering this degree program immediately. This program does not lead to additional
subject area licensure in Ohio. Prior to applying, an applicant is responsible for knowing whether or
not this program will satisfy regulatory requirements for the state in which he or she may be seeking
advanced standing.
