AS - Creative Digital Media
The Associate of Science degree with a major in Creative Digital Media provides students with the practical skills and knowledge necessary to create digital media solutions based on effective communication strategies. Students will use industry-standard software and tools to engage in real-world, hands-on experiences with still images, motion video, social media, and web design. Throughout the program, students will develop professional portfolios that demonstrate their understanding and application of communication principles and implementation of digital media solutions. Skill-based courses in the program are designed to meet the needs of students who have no prior experience with digital media, as well as students who have some experience. Upon successful completion of the program, students are prepared to earn industry certifications and seek entry-level careers in marketing, advertising, product development, web design and development, public relations, video production, and visual communication. Additionally, the skills and knowledge acquired through this program provide an excellent foundation for students desiring to continue their education at IWU to complete a bachelor’s degree in any discipline, especially degrees with majors in Communication and Marketing.
Admission Requirements
The admission requirements for the associate degree programs offered through the College of Adult and Professional Studies are as follows:
- Proof of standard high school diploma or GED certification.
- Submission of all required items for the admissions process as outlined in the "application procedures" section of the application packet.
Required Materials
- Subscription to Adobe Creative Cloud for students for the entirety of the program.
- DSLR camera capable of manual exposure settings for use in capturing still images.
- Digital video camera with ability for manual setting of focus, white balance, and exposure, as well as an external audio input option (XLR or 3.5mm mini-jack).
- External microphone (XLR or 3.5mm mini-jack) that will work with the selected camera.
- A minimum of three, color-temperature matched, lights (practical lights are acceptable, but a dimmable option is preferred).
- Two external 500Gb hard drives (one primary, one backup).
Anytime access to a computer capable of audio/video display and the Adobe software’s minimum requirements.
Graduation Requirements
To graduate with an associate degree with a major in Creative Digital Media from the College of Adult and Professional Studies at Indiana Wesleyan University, the following requirements must be met:
- Completion of 60 semester hours
- Completion of foundational, major, and completion of 24 hours of general education requirements as specified (General Education Requirements).
- Completion of the core requirements with a GPA of 2.0 or higher.
- Cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher.
- Payment of all tuition and fees is required in order to receive a diploma.
