Life Calling Courses
The Life Calling courses utilize a stage developmental approach to life calling understanding and vocational application. The sequence begins by helping students understand the concept of a life calling and the discovery of their God-given design as a basis for this calling. Using a Strengths-based approach, each class progressively and uniquely empowers students to explore their potential by identifying strategies for success. These courses equip students with the ability to make meaningful, vocational decisions that align with their unique strengths and academic preparation.
The Life Calling curriculum objective is to equip students with the ability to fully understand and integrate their life calling into vocational decisions post-graduation. By facilitating the stages of life calling and values discovery, personal faith and ethics articulation, self-uniqueness, community engagement, emotional intelligence development, and leadership style discovery, each course informs professional competencies from a multicultural perspective. Practical application from these courses includes personal assessments, mock interviews, network building, mentoring relationships, e-portfolios, co-curricular transcripts, and a culminating capstone experience through a Life Calling Showcase event. Students will also be able to integrate their personal calling and career aspirations by experimenting with their professional field of interest. The aim is to equip students with the ability articulate and apply cumulative knowledge of character, scholarship, and leadership to inform life decisions.
To support this objective, the office of Life Calling also provides Life Coaching. The Life Calling department believe that everyone has a natural giftedness within. Life Coaching helps track and reclaim that natural, God given design so students can live and lead from a place of confidence, congruence, and purpose. Through intentional conversation, reflection, and assessment tools, students discover and develop a sense of calling which inevitably leads to personal thriving.
