This course involves experiential learning within the local church context, wherein students participate in practical ministry and leadership experiences. Students will engage in and reflect on service opportunities and interactions with local church leadership. Special attention is given to the planning and organizing of ministry activities of a local church, particularly within a team environment. Ministry Leadership Lab II A provides the framework for subsequent lab courses in the ministry leadership programs. Students assess their personal and spiritual growth and disciplines, and character in relation to life and ministry leadership. This course may be repeated one time for credit. Students will assess themselves in relation to relational health, ministry relationships, and application of scripture and theology to ministry functions and leadership. This course may be repeated one time for credit. Prerequisite: MIN-211. Not open to students with credit in MIN-285

Students will learn how to create an expository message following the process from exegesis tothe communication of the message or Bible study. The student will analyze the biblical texts and exegesis courses)and extract the main ideas and put them in the form ofahomiletical outline. Students will also give evidence of their knowledge of this process by preparing a sermon. Prerequisite: BIL-201 or BIL-202, and THE-201 or REL-232. Students cannot earn credit for this course and MIN-280.

This course introduces students to varieties of cultural issues and influences affecting relationships, communities, and local churches. Students explore cultural theory and seek to make application by use of case studies in which they can apply cultural insights to local applications. Prerequisites: BIL-101 or BIL-111, BIL-102 or BIL-112, and THE-201. Not open to students with credit in MIN-112.

This course introduces the principles and practices of effective and healthy self-leadership and leadership in the local church. The course examines biblical, theological, practical, and personal issues relevant to the ministry in the local church. Prerequisites: THE-201 or REL-232, BIL-201 or BIL-202

This course is a study of the principles and methods of evangelism and follow-up developed by the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. The student learns to put into practice the best principles of evangelism. Not open to students with credit in REL-275.

The course introduces the principles of constructing and presenting sermons and/or teaching lessons. Students will apply Inductive Bible Study skills with a focus on the Old Testament book of Jonah. Students will craft a message focused to a particular audience. Issues for the ministry of the communicator of the gospel will be considered. Prerequisite: BIL-202

This course introduces students to basic leadership in the contexts of the small group and teamwork. Students will explain the importance of influence relationships to leading others and participating with God in his work in small groups and teams. Students will be exposed to group theory and team development. Prerequisites: MIN-121, MIN-175, and REL-285. Not open to students with credit in MIN-212.
