BIS-320 Managerial Relational Database Systems

This course develops skills in the design, implementation, and use of business database systems using modern database tools. It covers the conceptual, logical, and physical design of relational databases. Other types of databases used in data warehousing, business intelligence, and storage of data not suited to relational storage such as media and binary large object (BLOB) are briefly covered. Various usages of databases are discussed. Students will apply biblical and ethical principles to database management.

The student will develop communication process skills for critical thinking, problem solving, and decision-making in conventional and social communication in the role of the technology manager. In addition, effectively using active listening and non-verbal communication skills by the technology manager is explored. By describing the phases of information technology service management, the student will demonstrate the organization lifecycle processes for each process service phase. The student will apply the seven steps of Continuous Service Improvement and practice an industry accepted level of competency on every service phase. All information technology service management phases will be explored from a biblical worldview.

Global Information Systems takes a holistic look at information systems from a global level. The student will study the impact and cultural influences in the IT industry. With this foundation, effective communication, techniques, and strategies to successfully work in a global IT environment will be explored. All subjects will be studied from a biblical worldview.
