ROTC - U.S. Army Reserve Officers' Training Corps Program

Purpose

ROTC is offered in collaboration between Ball State University and Taylor University for those who sense a calling to serve our country in the military. The Department of Military Science offers qualified undergraduate and graduate students an opportunity to obtain a commission as a second lieutenant in the United States Army and to serve with the Active Army, Army National Guard or Army Reserves. Additionally, Military Science offers immersive learning experiences focused on preparing future leaders for the United States Army and managers for the corporate environment. Subjects offered in this program include the study of current military leadership, doctrine, rappelling, marksmanship, counseling, problem solving, managing resources, military history, and public speaking. All IWU students interested in studying military leadership may enroll in 100-level and 200-level classes without any obligation to enroll in the ROTC program.
