The tools include strategies for teaching language development, phonemic awareness, phonics and spelling, and fluency. Candidates implement a data-driven, phonics-based lesson. This course examines strategic literacy development for secondary learners. The course prepares teachers to develop independent metacognitive readers in their content area, and includes exploration of scientifically based reading research strategies, theories, and processes. Prerequisite: EDUT-211

Candidates will examine approaches, methods, and strategies related to their content area. The course also emphasizes using academic standards, methods of planning and delivering instruction, and effectively assessing students' understanding and mastery of essential concepts and skills in their content area.
