DTAN-500 Foundations of Data Analytics
This course introduces students to general principles of data analysis and business analytics for business problem solving. Topics covered include the general process of data analytics, data sources, validation, selection, and statistical analysis. Students will learn how to optimize, predict, forecast, and visualize data for presentation development. Emphasis on working with data software tools along with understanding the importance and associated risks will be presented. Essential technologies in data analytics like databases, Big Data, and knowledge management will be covered. Students will learn how to think critically about using data and applying general concepts and tools in data analysis for insights and knowledge. The creation of statistical narratives and visual presentations that reflect data analyses interpretation used in business decision-making will be addressed. Students will apply biblical and ethical principles to concepts covered in this course. Prerequisite: STAT-535
